living life to the fullest?
How often is it that you hear someone say “I live life to the fullest” or “I live every moment as if it is my last”. Is this really possible?
I guess it depends on your criteria. What constitutes living life to the fullest? I most often hear celebrities spouting phrases such as this, however, these individuals evidently have the resources necessary for confronting life head-on.
Are us mere mortals supposed to go bungee jumping one day, sky diving the next, tour Europe in our private jet and eat caviar with the finest champagne?
Or does trying your hardest to keep up with accumulating (and compulsory) school work while attempting to juggle international time zones in a long-distance relationship, baking cookies (mainly so you can enjoy the smell of melting butter) and spending dinner time with your family, contemplating the origins of cashews, garlic and almonds, reach the level of living in the moment?
I am once again sitting on the sofa. This is now my blog-spot. Rain is certainly an oddity where I live, the instance of rain is as surprising and joyous as winning the lottery. Well, almost.
It is raining now. The skies are pregnant (I stole that from my boyfriend) with moisture, and are a clear, iridescent grey that truly emphasises the endlessness of the universe. Sitting here, watching my favourite television show, listening to the battering rain, am I living life to the fullest?
I’d like to think so.
Perhaps the simplest things can fulfil ones life. Those of us who cannot afford to lie in a hammock on the French Riviera can gain enjoyment from Homer Simpson buying a copy of “Jugs & Ammo”.
So maybe I do spend too much time in bed, but perhaps living life is simply loving life, in whatever way you choose to do so.
